Privacy Policy

Publinx (“we”, “us”) is a consumer golf app for the Houston area — tee times, scorecards and side games, playing-partner matching, and coach booking. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using Publinx (on the web or in the iOS app) you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Account information — the email address and password you use to register, and a display name. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form; we never see your plaintext password.
Profile information you choose to add — handicap, home city, gender, tee preferences, and a short note, used to match you with playing partners and coaches.
Content you create — rounds and scores, side-game results, saved courses and tee-time alerts, messages to other golfers, open-foursome and group posts, and coach reviews.
Approximate location — on the web, only if you tap to enable it, your browser’s location is used to sort nearby courses and venues and to estimate drive times. Location is used in the moment and is not stored on our servers. The current iOS app does not request device location; it sorts from a default Houston center.
Notification tokens — if you opt in to alerts, a push-subscription token so we can notify you when a matching tee time appears.
Basic technical data — standard request logs (e.g. IP address, timestamps) generated by our hosting provider.

How we use information

To provide core features: showing tee times, scoring rounds, matching playing partners, and booking coaches.
To send the notifications you opt in to (for example, a tee-time price/availability alert).
To operate, secure, and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How information is shared

With other golfers — your display name, initials, handicap, home city, and gender appear in the partner directory and on posts/requests you create, so others can choose to play with you. Your email, phone, and notification tokens are never shown to other users.
Service providers — we use Supabase (authentication and database hosting) and Vercel (web hosting and serverless functions). Tee-time and venue availability is fetched through our server from third-party booking platforms (e.g. GolfNow, foreUP) and Topgolf; drive-time estimates use the OSRM routing service. If you pay for a coaching lesson, payment is processed by Stripe — we never store full card details.
Legal — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

We never submit a booking or move money on your behalf — booking links open the course or platform’s own site, and side games track IOUs only (settled externally, e.g. via Venmo).

Data retention & your choices

You can edit your profile and remove content (messages, posts, alerts) from within the app.
Account deletion — you can delete your account, which removes your profile and associated data from our database. Contact us at the email below if you need help.
You can turn off notifications at any time from your device or browser settings.

Children

Publinx is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; we will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
